![]() ![]() If you can do that and only touch the helmet then you will not be touching the mic. With the helmet on, put a couple of fingures up between your mouth and the helmet. On street bike helmet (as opposed to dirtbike helmets) the front of the helmet is usually pretty close to your face. On most helmets this is probably not going to be the problem area. Usuallly the pad will come out of your helmet and will have shape cut out about where your ear is. Look at your helmet and make sure you have plent of space to put the ear phones. To get an idea, obviously the mic will have to be in front of your mouth and the ear phones by your ears. ![]() As far as installing the head set in your helmet, you won't know until you try it. All I use mine for is talking to other guys around me, because again you don't want to have to much going on and get distracted. fzooro5 is right, they are very handy and will allow you to do alot of things while your riding. I've been using them for years in my atv helmets and on the street. Ralph I also have a chatterbox (GMRS-X1). Later during the week I will try to include some pictures so you can relate a little bit better. Needless to say, you have to be VERY careful of not getting distracted while riding so a must is to program your phone to auto answer. From there I run the small thin wire that goes to the chatterbox and when I get a phone call it rings on my helmet/ear plus since it is a PDA has a large display which can be easily seen. The way I do it is I put my tank bag and under the map holder I place my PDA. Believe me it is pretty handy while you get use to it. I have been in the road, listening to music, chatting with my buddy and getting phone calls on my bike. Now my latest addition to it was my faithful PDA, I use an I-Mate which is a phone/PDA/Digital camera ( I got the phone wire and I plug it to the chatterbox and works like a charm. Initially I installed the headset on a Shoei helmet RF1000 but it was killing my ears and I was eating the microphone due to the lack of space :angry so I bought a HJC Helmet AC11-Revenge (Blue/Silver) which it fits perfectly since HJC and Chatterbox are the same company Chatterbox and HJC. Needless to say, you have to do some fine tweaking with regards to the microphone settings and the voice activated system (vox). So far has worked great, my best buddy which has the same bike bought a set as well and it is great to BS on the road. Recently I bought the Chatterbox X1 Model ChatterboxUSA which allows you to connect a radio/cd/mp3, cel phone plus the ability to communicate with others with CB radios or Chatterbox. Just last night I was planning to write a post with regards to a similar topic. ![]()
